Managing Commodity Codes

A commodity code is a user-defined value which is used to match shipments with specific dock doors when scheduling appointments. Additionally, the commodity code is used in the derivation. You can create, edit, or deactivate commodity codes.

To manage commodity codes:

1. From the Administration menu, select Codes, and then click CommodityCodes.
   The Commodity Codes tab appears.

2. To add a commodity code, click Add.
   The Name and Description boxes appear.
   
   
   
   

3. In the Name box, type the name of the new commodity code.

4. In the Description box, type a brief description of the new commodity code.

5. Click Save.
   The new commodity code, Petrochemical in the following figure, appears alphabetically in the list.
   
   
   
   

6. To view the details of a commodity code, click the commodity code label.
   The Product Group Type and Description fields appear.

7. As required, you can edit the Description, and then click Save.
   A success message appears.

8. To deactivate a commodity code, click it, and then click Deactivate.
   A confirmation message appears.

9. Click OK.
   A success message appears in the information box, and the commodity code shows that it is inactive.
