Cost Allocation Strategies
The Cost Allocation feature is used to distribute the total movement cost among the individual shipments which are part of the movement. The calculation includes site-level and stop-level charges in order to determine the total cost for a shipment on a given movement. If multiple shipments are going to the same stop, those shipments split the cost of the stop. Allowance Rates can also be marked as Taxable and a Global Allowance Tax Rate can be specified. The following are the supported cost allocation strategies:
| Allocation Strategy | Definition |
| Weight | Calculates cost allocation based on shipment weight. |
| Weight/Distance | Calculates cost allocation based on shipment weight and distance. |
| Volume | Calculates cost allocation based on shipment volume. |
| Volume/Distance | Calculates cost allocation based on shipment volume and distance. |
| Dimensional Weight | Calculates cost allocation based on shipment dimensional weight (density). |
| Spaces | Calculates cost allocation based on the number of spaces a shipment requires. |
| Spaces/Distance | Calculates cost allocation based on the number of spaces a shipment requires and the distance the shipment will travel. |
