Routing Guides and Routing Rules

A Routing Guide is a three-level structure, with each routing guide having multiple Route entries, and each route having Route Carrier entries. For a given Enterprise, only one Routing Guide is active at any given time, as specified in the Effective Period at the Routing Guide level.

Each route is associated with a Routing Rule to represent the fact that for a given route, a particular rule is configured to be used in executing the tendering strategy. Route Carrier has links to Carrier Group, Contract Carrier Group, or Rotational Carrier Group. Based on the type of Routing Strategy, one of the three fields is used.
