Requests for Quotes (RFQs)

The request for quotation (RFQ) bidding functionality is used to invite vendors to bid on a contract for supplying the item(s) requested in the RFQ. Each new RFQ is assigned a unique name and bidding expiration date. Most tasks involving the RFQ bidding process are performed in the RFQ Explorer. Alerts for RFQs are created using the alerts menus. A bidding expiration date/time is assigned to ensure bids are received in a timely manner, and once a bid is accepted, a contract is generated.

Please note that requests for new business can come in many forms: Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and so on.
